Qualify a new lead and hand it to the right rep

How an AI agent recognizes the contact, captures each answer into its own field, classifies the lead and hands it to the right rep with the full context.

How do I get every new lead to the right rep already qualified?

The Met on the channel checks whether the person writing is already in your database, asks the questions that are missing and stores each answer in its own field instead of a paragraph of notes nobody can filter later. It applies the classification tags, moves the contact status and hands the lead to the rep who should own it. The handoff writes the note, marks the status and pulls the Met out of the conversation in a single step, so the rep opens the thread and finds the context already written instead of asking the same things again.

What starts it

When the customer writes

It starts with the first message that lands on any connected channel. The assigned Met picks up the conversation, and there is no automation to schedule for that to happen.

Nothing to set up. The Met assigned to that channel picks up the conversation and runs the procedure inside it.

Met for lead qualification

Sales team

It has no seeded name in the product: it is the Met that takes first contact. Its job is not to sell, it is to get the lead to the right person with the context intact.

6 steps · 14 tools

The procedure, step by step

Each step shows the tool that runs. They belong to the real connector: if one of them stopped existing, this page would not build.

  1. 1

Check whether they were already in the database

Contact search takes free text (name, phone, email) and also filters by status, channel or assignment. If the person wrote before, the full record brings their fields, their history and who handled them. Treating a two year old customer as a brand new lead is the fastest way to lose them.

  2. 2

Store each answer in its own field, not in a paragraph

The list of custom fields says what can be filled in for your operation (budget, city, type of need, source) and the update writes several at once, of any type. It is the difference between segmenting later and holding a thousand conversations where the information exists but cannot be searched.

  3. 3

Classify with tags and with status

Tags describe the contact (interested in a product, from a campaign, company or individual) and status says where the conversation stands: open, pending, asking for a human, closed. They are two different axes, and mixing them is what makes every later report useless.

  4. 4

Pick who gets it, and hand it over properly

The user list returns the reps in the workspace with their role, so the name is resolved before assigning. Transfer to a human is the only correct way to escalate: in a single call it writes the internal note, marks the contact as waiting on a person and pulls the Met out. Assigning without stepping back leaves two voices answering at once.

  5. 5

Leave the trail and the next step booked

The internal note keeps what the lead asked for in their own words, which rarely matches the tag. And if the rep is not available right now, the reminder schedules the follow-up with an approved template, so the contact does not depend on somebody remembering.

  6. 6

Measure whether the qualification is working

The pipeline summary computes how many contacts and how much money sit at each stage across every contact in the workspace, not across a sample. It is what lets you answer whether the Met is qualifying well or just moving people between boxes.

FAQ

Questions about this automation

Because a field can be filtered, segmented and counted; a note can only be read. With the budget in a field you can pull every lead above a given amount in seconds. With the budget in a paragraph, you cannot.

Yes. Besides the conversation there is a new contact trigger, which covers leads that arrive through a form or an import and have to be qualified before anybody writes.

The Met does not argue: it transfers. The handoff writes the note with the little it managed to gather, marks the status and steps back. Insisting on qualifying somebody who asked for a person is the surest way to lose them.
